NATION: “Foster Care Transition Plans Now Must Include Health Care Information”

New regulations announced by the Administration on Children Youth and Families require that transition plans for youth aging out of foster care include information on the youth’s health care. Under the new regulations, which will go into effect on October 1st, the plan must inform the youth about the importance of designating a person to make health decisions on the youth’s behalf; further, states and tribes must prepare health oversight plans for the youth, to include information on health insurance.
