LOUISIANA: “Louisiana must issue birth certificate to men who adopted baby boy, federal court rules”

The United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal ordered the state of Louisiana to issue a birth certificate to a homosexual couple that adopted a child born in Louisiana, finding that the state had to recognize the parent-child relationship that was established by an adoption in a New York court. Louisiana’s registrar of vital statistics had previously refused to issue the birth certificate, stating that the laws forbid it because the couple was unmarried.
