INTERNATIONAL: “Red flags wave over Uganda's adoption boom”

In Uganda, the adoption process can take just a few months to complete. The country is seen as a quick and easy alternative for prospective parents as it is not a signatory to the Hague Convention, a treaty which provides a blueprint for safe international adoptions. The speed and ease of the process has many observers worried and as the adoption numbers quickly increase many believe more needs to be done to prevent these children from being exploited.
